I SHOT THE SHERIFF

I shot the sheriff
But I swear it was in self defense
I shot the sheriff
And they say it is a capital offense

Sheriff John Brown always hated me,
For what, I don’t know,
Every time I plant a seed,
He said kill it before it grow,
He said kill them before they grow, and so

I shot the sheriff
But I swear it was in self-defense (bis)

Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town, yeah!
All of a sudden I saw sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down,
So I shot, I shot, I shot him down and I say,
If I am guilty I will pay!

I shot the sheriff
But I didn’t shoot no deputy (bis)

Reflexes had got the better of me
And what is to be must be,
Every day the bucket gost to the well,
One day the bottom well drop out,
One day the bottom well drop out,

I shot the sheriff.
Lord, I didn’t shot the deputy, oh no
I shot the sheriff
But I didn’t shoot no deputy, oh no

KNOCK ON WOOD

I don’t want to lose this good thing that I’ve got.
If I do, I would surely, surely lose a lot,
‘Cause your love is better than any love I know.

It’s like thunder, lightning,
The way you love me is frightening.
Think I’d better knock on wood, baby.

I’m not superstitious about you, I can’t take no chance.
You got me spinning, baby. Baby, I’m in a trance,
‘Cause your love is better than any love I know.

It’s like thunder, lightning,
The way you love me is frightening.
Think I’d better knock on wood, baby.

Ain’t no secret, that woman is my loving cup.
She sees to it that I get it up.
Just one touch from her, you know can do so much.

It’s like thunder, lightning,
The way you love me is frightening.
Think I’d better knock on wood, baby.

Think I better knock, knock, knock on wood.
Think I better knock, knock, knock on wood.

Words & Music: Eddie Floyd & Steve Cropper

KNOCKIN’ ON HEAVENS DOOR

Mama, take this badge of me.
I can’t use it anymore.
It’s getting dark, too dark to see.
Feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door.

Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.

Mama, take these guns away from me.
I can’t shoot them any more.
That long black cloud is comin’ down
Feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door.

Knock, knock, knockin’
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heavens door.

LAYLA

No se que haras cuando estes sola
Y no haya nadie junto a tí.
Un año más tratando de huir.
Tu orgullo te trajo hasta aquí…

ESTRIBILLO
Layla, a tus pies estoy, Layla
¿Puedes, por favor, Layla…
aliviar mi mente del dolor?

Yo que traté de consolarte
cuando tu viejo amor se fue.
Cual colegial, yo me enamoré.
Pusiste mi mundo al revés…

ESTRIBILLO

Antes de que me vuelva loco,
Y antes de perder la ocasión.
No digas más que poco a poco,
esto nuestro se acabo..

ESTRIBILLO (X2)

GUIT. SOLO

ESTRIBILLO (X2)

Adaptación español: Basilio Montes & Txus Bengoechea

What’ll you do when you get lonely
And nobody’s waiting by your side?
You’ve been running and hiding much too long
You know it’s just your foolish pride

Layla, you’ve got me on my knees
Layla, I’m begging, darling please
Layla, darling won’t you ease my worried mind

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man you let you down
Like a fool, I fell in love with you
You turned my whole world upside down

Make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane
Please don’t say we’ll never find a way
And tell me all my love’s in vain

Words & Music: Eric Clapton & Jim Gordon

LAY DOWN SALLY

Qué hay de malo en desear
que te quedes para hablar conmigo
I know you’ve got somewhere to go
But won’t you make yourself at home and stay with me?

Don’t you ever leave

Lay down, Sally,
and rest you in my arms
Don’t you think you want someone to talk to?

Lay down, Sally,
No need to leave so soon
I’ve been trying all night long just to talk to you

Hasta que no salga el sol
El brillo de la luna te iluminará
Bajo nubes de algodón
Alimentando la ilusión te siento aquí

Don’t you ever leave

Lay down, Sally,
and rest you in my arms
Don’t you think you want someone to talk to?

Lay down, Sally,
No need to leave so soon
I’ve been trying all night long just to talk to you

Quiero que el amanecer
refleje en tu cara sus colores
No te vayas ¡Quédate!
Calma tus pesares y sincérate…

¡Quédate hasta el fin!

Lay down, Sally,
and rest you in my arms
Don’t you think you want someone to talk to?

Lay down, Sally,
No need to leave so soon
I’ve been trying all night long just to talk to you

Words & Music: Eric Clapton, George Terry & Marcela Detroit

TEARS IN HEAVEN (LÁGRIMAS EN EL CIELO)

Se que te veré
alguna vez en el cielo
Y quiero estar allí
para enredarme en tu pelo

Te vi partir
Y he de seguir
Porque se que tu estarás
en el cielo

Would you hold my hand?
Si te veo en el cielo
Would you help me stand?
Si te veo en el cielo

Te encontraré, y esperare
Porque se que tu estarás
en el cielo

Me das fuerza y valor
Cuando pienso en ti
Time can break your heart
Cuando pienso en ti
Solo en ti

Beyond the door
Hay paz, y amor
Y se que no habrá ya más
Tears in heaven

Se que te veré
alguna vez en el cielo
Y quiero estar allí
para enredarme en tu pelo

Te vi partir
Y he de seguir
Porque se que tu estarás
en el cielo

Words & Music: Eric Clapton & Will Jennings

TULSA TIME

Me fui de Oklahoma
Driving on a Pontiac
Estaba a punto de estallar
Me voy para Arizona
Tal vez a California
People all living so fine

Me dicen que estoy loco
Y que voy poco a poco
Montando el show en all this time
Sabes que no soy tonto
Y aunque voy como una moto
Want them just walk the line

Living on Tulsa Time,
Living on Tulsa time,
Viajando en el tiempo,
Voy retrocediendo
Living on Tulsa time.

Caminé por Hollywood
Thinking I was doing good
Talking on the telephone line
They don’t want me in the movies
Y no cantan mis canciones,
My mama says my baby’s doing fine

Ahora estoy hundido,
Y ando algo perdido
I really had a flash this time
Nadie me lloraría
Nada me perdería
Si volviera a Tulsa Time.

Living on Tulsa Time,
living on Tulsa time,
Viajando en el tiempo,
Voy retrocediendo
Living on Tulsa time.

WONDERFULL TONIGHT

Cada noche que estoy sin ti
Es un intento por olvidar
La sonrisa que nace en mi
Cuando te veo caminar

Y al verme me preguntas «Do I look alright?»
Y yo te digo «Si, you look wonderful tonight»

Llegamos a un partí
Todos se vuelven a ver
This beautiful lady
That’s walking around with me

And then she asks me, «Do you feel alright?»
Y yo le digo «Si, I feel wonderful tonight»

I feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don’t realize
How much I love you

Nos vamos del partí
No aguanto el dolor ya mas
So I give her the car keys
ella me ayuda a acostar

And then I tell her, as I turn out the light
I say, «My darling, you are wonderful tonight»
Oh my darling, you are wonderful tonight
